Marguerite Snider, the the 86-year old mother of
TWISTED SISTER frontman
Dee Snider, passed away on January 2, more than two months after she was hit by a car.
Snider announced his mother's death on
Twitter, writing: "Since so many people continue to ask about my mom's health on social media, I have no choice but to respond in kind: My mother,
Marguerite Snider, died in her sleep on January 2nd after struggling for the past two months since the car hit her. Rest in peace, Mom. I love you."
Dee revealed back in November that his mother had been put in an induced coma after suffering a head injury that left her so "broken" that she was "unrecognizable." He later issued an update revealing that she was out of the coma and was breathing on her own, and that she was "slowly progressing forward... slowly."
Snider is currently in the studio working on a new solo album, which is being produced by
HATEBREED vocalist
Jamey Jasta. The as-yet-untitled disc will feature contributions from
Howard Jones (ex-
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE),
Mark Morton (
LAMB OF GOD),
Joel Grind and
Nick Bellmore (
TOXIC HOLOCAUST) and
Charlie Bellmore (
KINGDOM OF SORROW), and is tentatively due out later this year.
In 2016,
TWISTED SISTER embarked on one final tour, titled
"Forty And Fuck It", in celebration of its 40th anniversary. These shows featured the band's "core lineup" of
Snider, guitarists
Jay Jay French and
Eddie Ojeda and bassist
Mark Mendoza, along with drummer
Mike Portnoy.
TWISTED SISTER's original run ended in the late '80s. After more than a decade, the band publicly reunited in November 2001 to top the bill of
New York Steel, a hard-rock benefit concert to raise money for the
New York Police And Fire Widows' And Children’s Benefit Fund.
