Michael Wilton says that QUEENSRŸCHE has always followed its own path when it comes to the creative aspect of being in the band. "QUEENSRŸCHE has never really thought about anything outside of what we're doing," the guitarist told "Robb's Metalworks" in a new interview (see video below). "We're not ones to follow a trend, we're not ones to try and repeat ourselves. We keep it real. It's just whatever inspires you to write, whether it's a riff in your head, whether it's a lyric, whether it's a drum beat. Everybody in the band is so psyched to just work on music, and to have that ability and just respect the music and write it. And I've been doing this for so long now, I can see when the band's really clicking, and there's a lot of energy in the band. And creatively, everything's pretty kick-ass right now." According to Wilton, being in a band can be difficult, but if you have the right attitude and are surrounded by the right people, it's one of the best situations to be in. "Being in a band with all these guys, everybody thinks it's a piece of cake," he said. "It's not easy. People change as they grow, and they wanna go in different directions and do different things. People don't understand what goes behind the business. There's a lot of stuff that we deal with that is better left kept behind those doors." QUEENSRŸCHE's latest album, "The Verdict", was released March 1 via Century Media Records. The disc was produced, mixed, and mastered by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (ROB ZOMBIE, ICED EARTH, HATEBREED) at Uberbeatz in Lynwood, Washington; Planet-Z in Wilbraham, Massachusetts; and Watershed Studio in Seattle, Washington. QUEENSRŸCHE's spring U.S. headline tour with special guests FATES WARNING wrapped on April 3 in Seattle.
