Queen will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their classic “Bohemian Rhapsody” single with a special limited-edition vinyl reissue.
The anniversary pressing, which is being issued as a 12″ LP backed with the song’s original B-side, “I’m in Love With My Car,” will arrive in stores as part of this year’s Black Friday Record Store Day event on Nov. 27, and comes shortly after Queen were honored with the Classic Song Award at this year’s Q Awards.
Guitarist Brian May recalled writing and recording the song with singer Freddie Mercury, saying, “The biggest thrill for us was actually creating the music in the first place. I remember Freddie coming in with loads of bits of paper from his dad’s work, like Post-it Notes, and pounding on the piano. He played the piano like most people play the drums. And this song he had was full of gaps where he explained that something operatic would happen here and so on. He’d worked out the harmonies in his head.”
